NARRATIVE
The narrative is loosely based on W H Hudson’s A Crystal Age. Smith is a young, vulnerable man who has been unconscious for an unspecified amount of time after a botanical walk. He awakens to find a world unlike the one he once knew, and he happens upon Yoletta, a young, beautiful woman. Her family takes him into their home, and Smith quickly falls in love with Yoletta. Once this happens, Smith begins to realise that love in the romantic form does not exist in this new Utopia. Yoletta tries to understand, but is unable to. While Smith is in her library, he find a vile with a liquid that promises to end any troubles. He drinks it, and it in fact kills him.
“Smith” Breakdown: Smith is a vulnerable, inquisitive young man who has been unconscious for thousands of years after a fatal fall. He awakes in a Utopian society and meets Yoletta.
“Yoletta” Breakdown: Yoletta is a sweet, knowledgable and youthful woman who is incapable of understanding the meaning of romantic love. She feels close to Smith, but is unable to reciprocate his intense feelings.
